Murphy will advise the firm’s clients in mitigating corporate risks including fraud, white-collar crime, and financial crimes.
CHICAGO, IL – Prescient, a leading global due diligence and investigations firm headquartered in Chicago, announced the promotion of a new Practice Lead of Investigations, Patrick Murphy.
Murphy, a former supervisory special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), led investigations of high-profile public corruption and financial crimes during his 25 years of service with the FBI, including the successful investigation, prosecution, and conviction of former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. As the head of Prescient’s Investigations Practice, he will advise the firm’s clients in mitigating corporate risks including fraud, theft, and insider threats.
Immediately after retiring from the FBI, Murphy was a Director of Forensic, Investigative, and Dispute Services with Grant Thornton. During his time at Grant Thornton, he led internal investigations for fraud, theft, and corruption for corporate and government clients.
“Pat is a respected industry leader with seasoned experience and knowledge investigating complex fraud, corruption, and financial crimes cases,” stated DJ Fuller, president at Prescient. “His expertise will prove extremely valuable to our clients as a complement to the intelligence community best practices our team utilizes for complex litigation support, social media, and internal investigations.”
Murphy has worked closely with many federal, state and local agencies and has also collaborated with international law enforcement. His extensive experience includes white-collar crime, financial institution fraud, corporate fraud, bankruptcy fraud, embezzlements, securities fraud, investment fraud, mortgage fraud, antitrust and public corruption.
He is a member of the Illinois Bar, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists, and the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI. Murphy received a juris doctor degree from the Loyola University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from DePaul University.
“We look forward to leveraging Pat’s breadth of experience to better serve our clients’ unique investigative needs,” says Fuller. “This move represents an exciting phase for Prescient – we are thrilled to have Pat on board to oversee the rapid growth of our investigations practice.
